Bundle , a term commonly used in Malaysia as used clothing. Kedai Bundle means Used Clothing Shop. The business of Baju Bundle or used clothing are growing in Malaysia like wild fire. Over the past 3 years we have seen the opening of Kedai Bundle (Used Clothing Shop) all over Malaysia from State to State, village to village... you even see them all over the place in the night market commonly known as Pasar Malam.
Yes, this sector of the fashion industry is growing so well, BUT WHY????.
We not only see the increases in number of Kedai BajuBundle, but also in the number of used clothing importers bringing in more and more used clothing into Malaysia and mostly imported from USA, Japan, Korea and Singapore. We visited more than 20 Kedai Bundle or used clothing Shop...we realised that we are looking at a new trend of people going round Kedai Bundle browsing not for bargains but rather they are hunting and paying a premium for used clothing or rather I should say they are collecting vintage clothing.
Many of these Kedai Bundle Owners are cashing in to the growing trend of used clothing shoppers or you can call them Vintage Clothing collectors, I was told by a shop in Masai Johor that there are collectors willing to pay as high as RM2,000 for a pairs of Levi's 501 Big E Button Fly dated back to the 1930's.. Among them the most popular are used clothing imported from Japan with Levi's and Edwin as the most popular brands.
Of course, not all are collectors, among the browsers in Kedai Bundle, the average worker in the country are snatching up the used clothing for their day to day use because they are
1) Affordable
2) Durable
3)Branded,You get to see branded fashion which they probably pay less then half the price.
